A UK Born vocalist with that raw, Panjabi folk vibe, along with perfect pronunciation, is about as common as having a sunny summers day in the UK. Now, if someone was to say a UK Born vocalist with a dhadi flex – you’d probably be thinking that that person is nuts, right? Enter the powerhouse that is Gurj Sidhu.
Gurj Sidhu returns to the scene with his new single ‘Patta Lagg Ju’, with music provided by widely acclaimed producers, Kaos Productions, and lyrics penned by UK Born lyricist, Dhami Amarjit.
Gurj Sidhu is rapidly becoming a household name, with his instantly recognisable raw, desi vocals. ‘Patta Lagg Ju’ is the follow up single to ‘Putt Sardaran De’ (produced by Tru-Skool), and ‘Nazareh’ (also produced by Kaos Productions). The new single is taken from his forthcoming debut album, ‘Sentimental Value’, releasing soon on Moviebox Records.
More about the Music…
Kaos Productions need no introduction. They have been consistently providing bangers over the years, namely Gurbhej Brar’s debut album ‘Panjabi Touch’, and Kulwinder Johal’s albums ‘Mundeh Panjabi’ and ‘Once Upon Tha Mic’. Their work is and always has been refreshing to listen to, even after returning to the scene 7 years ago. We are confident they won’t disappoint with the music on Gurj’s new single.
In order for a track to be great, you need three things:
- Faultless vocals
- Complimentary and fitting music
- Meaningful lyrics
The majority of lyricists originate from Panjab. It’s a no-brainer; they know how to write thought provoking tracks. However, for his new single, Gurj has enlisted the talents of Dhami Amarjit.
Dhami Amarjit is the new lyricist on the block with one difference – he is UK born and bred. He has impressed a lot of people recently, having penned lyrics for songs on the record breaking album by Ashok Prince and Tru-Skool, ‘One Time 4 Ya Mind’. It is, without a doubt, refreshing seeing a UK Born lyricist entering the scene. This guy is definitely one to look out for in the future.
‘Patta Lagg Ju’ releases on 15th September 2016 on Moviebox Records via all major digital outlets.
